Underside view shows rear wheel wells in the same position from end of deck.
Top view details where kicktail joins deck.

Really need to change those tracker cushions, just doesn’t look right!

Hi there Gentlemen,
New to this forum and looking for some advice please guys? Just bought an Oak 27" White Lightning from 78 and was wondering if the whole length of the deck was grip taped with sticker shape die cut into top or were they gripped with just 1 " strips of tape with the top sticker shape cut into these strips. Advice gratefully received.
Cheers for now
Srevie

Hiya stevie first of all welcome , the grip tape people or the shops selling them put on , the decks generally came ungripped , the usual is as you say all gripped with a cut out for the silver benjy sticker on top but also you see loads with the strips just preference really , it’s a nice deck and set up what you’ve got there , what else have you got get some pics on

You’ve got some cracking stuff there , a few benjys , what the second and fourth skateboards down on the wall rack the ones that are ribbed underneath, I’ll have to get some racks to display my boards are just secreted round house under settees and stuff 😂😂

Alright bud,
The second is a Skuda California that I bought for 65 quid in 2008 covered in white emulsion. Couldn't keep the screen printed graphics no matter how hard I tried. Lazers and the Sk5 wheels. Other board is a No name board with California slalom trucks , with Pacer Gecko 5 nos wheels. Most of my gear is bought between 2007 and 2012 in the USA and Europe.

I like them skudas really different , most of mine I bought years since and were generally fairly cheap at the time , one of the benjys with split axle gullwing and Kryps was £120 , quite a few of the benjys were 50/60 quid at the time

Bargain and then some bud,
My Benjy comp with slalom trucks and tunnel 5 was £82,60 and the most I paid for a board until last year and I paid 92 quid for the Aluminium ProAm.
Always wanted one because my mate had one and they wouldn't let him in to ride one in Glasgow Kelvingrove skatepark because they were lethal. Bad enough getting hit with a Cedar board flying into the next run/bowl..... never .mind a pointed lump of Aluminium!
Happy days eh!

Seen a Facebook post this morning which I’ve quoted below has anybody else heard this I hadn’t interesting if right, I’m presuming he means the 2 strips missing at the edge at either side like pic above

“can anyone confirm the story ... that the unwanted cutaways in the grip tape, is because Benjy bought leftover die cut grip from Sims that were destined for a Sims deck (which one ?)”

interesting theory, never heard of it myself though.you would have thought if sims had got as far as producing diecut grip for a deck then there would have been a few actual decks appear over the yrs experimental/protos etc,ive never seen anything but would be a great idea if true, cheap"skates"
